Joy Glidden

Interview with Joy Glidden the founder of d.u.m.b.o. arts center - which is a non-profit contemporary arts institution dedicated to preserving and enriching the identity of DUMBO as a vital artists' community. In 1997, Joy Glidden founded (dac) to organize the d.u.m.b.o. art under the bridge festival, celebrating and giving exposure to D.U.M.B.O.'s arts community. Each year, over three days in October, performances and events take place in D.U.M.B.O.'s galleries and streets while hundreds of artists open their studios for public viewing. The 2005 festival drew an estimated 200,000 people. Joy doesn't share most of DUMBO's residents opinion of the need for preservation. She believes that change is impossible to prevent, and should be embraced.
